Amelia attended college at both the University of Wyoming and the University of Northern Colorado, graduating with a Master’s in International Studies and a Master’s in Public Health respectively. While disabilities have always been a part of Amelia’s life personally, in 2008 it became her professional passion with her employment at a local Weld County residential provider agency. After several years working in the adult developmental disabilities system she transitioned to the Arc of Weld County. Amelia began first as an Administrative Assistant and Job Coach; later, as the agency underwent significant growth and development she became our first Director of Development. In 2016 Amelia received the Matt Schuman Memorial Award for Disability Access and Community Inclusion from Connections for Independent Living. She also attended the “Program Planning & Evaluation” hosted by the Community Resource Center in September 2017. Most recently Amelia enrolled in the Institute for Leaders in Development at the University of Denver, and is expected to graduate in May 2018.
