Community Outreach Advocate
Debbie’s passion for helping people with disabilities started as a child with her cousin who had a developmental disability. She has been working in special education and with adults with disabilities for 25 years. She also has supported clients with IDD in a day program, as well as a group home setting with the State of Colorado, where she received her certification as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician. She developed a greater passion to advocate for people with disabilities and their families working with a nonprofit parent advocacy group in Denver. Debbie has received her Associate’s and Bachelor’s in Psychology from Colorado Christian University and Master’s in Special Education from Grand Canyon University in 2020. Being a Colorado native and a mother of four wonderful children (two with learning disabilities), Debbie looks forward to helping build our inclusive community as The AWC’s Community Outreach Advocate.
